We're Moving!

In case you haven't heard our family is moving. We're relocating to Stansbury Park, Utah and we'll be leaving on Sunday June 28.

In the meantime I'm packing the house and tying up loose ends so there won't be any posts until late next week.

Sorry for the delay and thanks to everyone who's been so helpful as we get ready to go.

Needs No Introduction...

Super Girls to the Rescue!

We received new furniture last week from Brent's parents which means we have to get rid of the old furniture. We temporarily stored it on the back porch hoping to find someone who needed it but we've been unsuccessful.

So on to Plan B: Put the furniture on the side of the road in front of our house and someone will pick it up.

In Alabama there's an unwritten rule that you can put anything you don't want in front of your house by the road and everyone knows it's theirs for the taking. I've put numerous items out in front of our house and it never lasts more than a day.

The dilemma: How do I get it from the back porch to the street?

Luckily two Super Girls came to my rescue and helped push the two couches all the way to the street. And no, I'm not patronizing them either. These girls are tough. They actually lifted the couches so we could get them through the grass without the legs digging into the dirt.

Life would be so boring without my kids!

p.s. Brent would have helped but I am impatient to have my porch back and he's really busy today. I love you Brent!

Remembering...

I found this on the internet tonight and I was remembering some things about being a teenager. I actually think about being a teenager a lot in anticipation of having three teenager daughters of my own. I wonder what things will be like when they start jr. high school, driving, dating, and preparing for college. Mostly I wonder because I'm always trying to think of how I can best prepare them to make the best choices...choices that will lead them to happiness rather than choices that will enslave them. Ultimately it will be up to Haley, Allie and Emily the choices they make and the lives they pursue, but it's my job now to give them the knowledge they need.

When I saw the logo (above) I remembered being a young woman. Every Sunday all of us young women met together for an hour and at the beginning we would always recite our theme:

We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him.

We will "stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places" (Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are:

Faith

Divine Nature

Individual Worth

Knowledge

Choice and Accountability

Good Works

Integrity

andVirtue.

We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.

I was reminded each week of my worth and my purpose. I'm grateful that I still remember and that I can teach my daughters. I know if they'll hold to these truths they will be like magnificent stars shining in the darkest night.

For Mom...

Happy Mother's Day!

I know it's almost a month overdue but I wanted to say "Happy Mother's Day" to all of my mother figures. I'm really blessed to have so many great women in my life. Melissa and Marlena love me like their own, even though they don't have to, and I admire my mother who loves someone else's children like they're her own. These ladies are true examples of unconditional love.

I'm especially grateful to the three little girls who call me "Mommy" and the greatest husband in the whole world who lets me be their full time mom.

This year my mom happened to be visiting with us over Mother's Day and it was a real treat to celebrate Mother's Day with her for the first time in probably six years! I love you Mom! We were also lucky enough to have Brent's mom and Mamaw with us for Mother's Day dinner (Robin was here too, but he's not a mom. He did do the dishes though. Thanks Dad!) I'm sorry I didn't get pictures of everyone that day, but here the ones we did get.

Our Newest Princess

Brent's mom requested some new pictures of her princesses be posted on the blog but I don't think this is what she had in mind. (Don't worry Mom I'm getting to it on the next post!) This is our dog Bella. She's a boxer mix. Boxer's are known for being great guard dogs, they're pack dogs so they become very attached to their families, and they're very intelligent. Bella's only a year old so she'll get taller and she'll beef up more. She's very fond of the girls and watches over them closely. Notice the pink polka dot collar...Haley and Allie picked it out. Brent wanted a collar with spikes. I have to admit that the pink polka dots make her a little less intimidating!
